This is the medal ceremony for the 100 meters breaststroke which Phil also won. The main reason for going to the Canterbury Champs was to get some qualifying times for the New Zealand Age Groups meet coming up soon, the main long course meet of the year. Phil needed three qualifying times to go (it's in Wellington) and he got all three for his breaststroke: 50, 100, and 200 meters. Beating the Canterbury swimmers and getting two gold and two silver medals was just a bonus!
