Nelson Aurora

Aurorae are often seen from Dunedin but are more rare as you go further north (it's the opposite in the northen hemisphere) so when Dunedin people reported one when I was visiting Nelson (about 799 kilometers further north) I didn't expec to see anything. But as you can see in this photo, I did see it, although it was lower than in Dunedin.

This was taken with the mid focal length back camera on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, and it shows the aurora clearly even though it was quite dim visually.
