The Skippers Road is an interesting challenge at any time, and one of New Zealand's roughest public roads. So, being a dedicated photographer, I had to visit on a wet day, in my Honda Prelude - total ground clearance about 10 cm (4 inches)! I must admit I was wondering whether I was going to make it back but there aren't many places to turn so I just kept going. I decided to head back about half way. Had no real problems but will need to go back on a better day!
This picture shows the car parked at "Hell's Gate" a narrow cut in the rock for the road to pass through. This was on the way back.
