After returning to the bottom of the hill we drove through the Lyttleton Tunnel to Christchurch's port town, Lyttleton.
This photo is looking up towards the hill from the harbour area and shows the time ball which was used in the past to synchronise the time on visiting ships. At exactly midday each day the ball was dropped from the top of the mast.
