Roaring Meg Pinot Noir 2004

Name:Roaring Meg Pinot Noir (285)
Variety:Pinot Noir (13)
Producer:Roaring Meg
Region:Central Otago

I tasted the 2004 vintage of this wine on 01 Aug 2007 when it was 3 years old and gave it a rating of ok+.
The colour was bright medium ruby red. The bouquet had strong spicy jammy cherry fruit. The taste had a smooth soft start, cherry fruit and light earthiness, and a dry tannic finish. This wine had medium body, and quite complex fruit, spice, and savoury flavours.
I tasted the 2019 vintage of this wine on 19 Oct 2021 when it was 2 years old and gave it a rating of ok+.
The colour was medium-deep red. The bouquet had dark cherry, spice, and light tannins. There was light cherry fruit, and pepper and light spice, with a dry oak finish. This wine was quite fruity with moderate wood balance, a light-medium body, and moderate complexity

Note 1: I am not really a wine expert (just an enthusiastic amateur), so please don't take my recommendations as anything more than a rough guide to these wines. I can take no responsibility if you buy a lot of this particular wine, on my recommendation, and then regret it!

Note 2: You may not fully agree with my evaluation of these wines, as a lot of this is quite subjective. I tend to put a lot of emphasis on complexity and intense characteristic and varietal flavours and bouquet, so if you disagree you might just have different priorities.
