A Good Thrashing

Entry 188, on 2005-07-03 at 20:04:46 (Rating 1, News)

I watched the All Blacks vs Lions rugby match in the weekend. If you don't follow rugby, the All Blacks is the New Zealand national team (currently considered the best in the world) and the Lions are a combined team from England (official World Cup champions), Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

After winning the Rugby World Cup a couple of years ago, England rate themselves fairly highly, so the Lions (who are mostly England players) thought they had a good chance of winning.

In the first test New Zealand won 21-3, but the weather conditions were terrible and the Lions just didn't really play as well as they could. In the second test the Lions scored early and things looked interesting. But in the end they were well beaten 48-18.

The fact that the Lions played quite well should be a real worry to them, because they were still totally thrashed by the All Blacks. I suppose I shouldn't be too smart, but I would expect another thrashing in the third, and final, test coming up.
