Yacht at Anchor(Up to OJB's Misc Other Photo Page) This photograph was taken near Nelson (a small city at the top of the South Island of New Zealand). It is most effective because of the crisp sharpness of the original (perhaps not fully appreciated on your monitor). The film was Kodak Ektar 25 which is slow but can provide beautiful detail. Notice that the main subject is illuminated from behind, a technique that can be very effective if used properly. This photo has a fairly limited range of colours. Often this can be used to create a mood where a wide range of colours would be confusing. The blues are particularly relaxing "cool" colours which enhance the detail and crispness of the picture. I ensured all parts of the photo were in focus by using a wide depth of field with an f/ratio of about 19. There was plenty of light so there was no problem with holding the camera still, even with the slow film. |
