(Up to OJB's Styles Page) Shingleback Shiraz 2012Tasted: | 22 Mar 2016 (age 4 years) | Name: | The Gate by Shingleback McLaren Vale Shi (299) | Variety: | Shiraz (17) | Year: | 2012 | Producer: | Shingleback | Region: | South Australia | Rating: | good | Web Site: | Not available | | The colour was deep opaque ruby red. There was a quite strong spicy currant bouquet. The flavour was full currant fruit, with mint and spice, and a smooth vanilla oak tannin finish. This wine had intense complex flavours and nice balance. It was quite impressive. |
Note 1 I am not really a wine expert (just an enthusiastic amateur), so please don't take my recommendations as anything more than a rough guide to these wines. I can take no responsibility if you buy a lot, on my recommendation, and then regret it! Note 2 You may not agree with my evaluation of these wines as a lot of this is quite subjective. I tend to put a lot of emphasis on complexity and intense characteristic flavours and bouquet, so if you disagree you might just have different priorities.
