National Party Trans Debate

This debate/discussion occurred on 02 Oct 2022 at 10:41:05...

This debate concerned a trans activist's opinion of the Nats: "The National Party has a homophobic past and a transphobic future - their actions have failed the queer community, writes [a trans activist]: National is set upon erasing people like me".

Me They often use extreme rhetoric like "erased" when all they really mean is that others won't accept their unrealistic demands.

Opponent What's unrealistic about expecting to define who you are yourself? It's totally unrealistic to expect anyone to live in a way that makes other people more comfortable.

Me Sure, they can do what they want. It's what they ask others to do which is a problem.

Opponent What are trans people asking for, that you think is such a problem?

Me Forcing us to use fake pronouns. Allowing children to be operated on based on a trendy fad. Requiring special congratulations when they do something mundane.

Me And, of course, the big one: demanding access to facilities and participation in events not designed for their biological sex. (trans "ex-men" in women's sport).

And, just like that, my opponent disappears without trace. I think there were possible counters to what I said, but I never heard them from this person.

Supporter So true. Such as transgender demanding to compete in woman's sports despite the medical science showing this provides an unfair advantage. And if we say no that's no fair the. We are anti this, a bigot or a transphobic

These silly buzzwords: "homophobic", "transphobic", "erased" are thrown around with no justification and without even a definition of what they mean. It's just a convenient alternative to real debate, I guess.
